Caption Reporters' Senior Staff

Lorraine Carter, President
Ms. Carter has been a Professional Reporter for the past 22 years.

Recognizing the developing need for closed captioning, however, she transformed her reporting skills into captioning, receiving her professional training at the prestigious National Captioning Institute.

Upon completing her professional education in captioning, Ms. Carter won a contract to caption news for WUSA-TV, CBS Channel 9, in Washington, D.C., and launched a new business, the highly successful Caption Reporters, Inc.

Ms. Carter has received numerous recognitions for her captioning services to broadcast, government, corporate and industrial clients, including kudos from the Washington Post, the Washington Times, and Black Enterprise Magazine. She was also one of ten business owners profiled in the book "Against All Odds."

Ms. Carter is a member National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), and of AMIC, the Accessible Media Industry Coalition. She uses the court reporting background and her captioning skills to train seasoned court reporters to become captioners.

Adrienne Plater, Director of Captioning Services
Ms. Plater has worked in the reporting industry for 25 years in administration and as an editor, and is well-respected in her field.

She supervises the offline captioning division to assure both quality control and timely delivery, and handles all the in-house responsibilities related to our reporters and their schedules.

Richard Hofmann, Marketing Director
Mr. Hofmann has more than 30 years experience in journalism, advertising, and corporate marketing communications. A member of the adaptive community himself, Mr. Hofmann has a special appreciation for helping provide full social and communications access to members of the adaptive community.

Chip Jones, Director of Technical Services
Mr. Jones is a seasoned computer professional, with extensive training in both Microsoft Systems and UNIX network administration. With a deep background system support, Mr. Jones is responsible for Caption Reporters hardware, software, and connectivity systems.
