Captioning for RadioIn February 2005 Caption Reporters and National Public Radio ushered in a new era by captioning a live radio show.
The deaf and hard of hearing community were able to access the live radio program as it happened. The experiment was a resounding success, silencing even the most devout of doubters. Caption Reporters recognizes the huge potential for this new combination of technologies - both for the deaf and hard-of hearing community, and for those who with to communicate to the 22-million member hearing impaired audience. Radio broadcasts from live news programs to sporting events to legislative hearings can now be captioned and streamed directly through the internet. So can information on the benefits of the products and services of those who sponsor such programming.
To help promote this new medium, Caption Reporters has acquired its own computer servers dedicated solely to streaming text captioning. We've launched our own host web site for streaming text radio captions; and have acquired the proprietary software which allows large scale audience connectivity.
