Earize Communications - Internet Streaming Text Service For Broadcasters

Customizing

Earize™ uses an Asynchronous JavaScript and XML strategy to deliver text to as wide a variety of browsers as possible. It uses a viewing client with a static HTML frame to efficiently present real-time text to as many viewers as possible.

You may design the HTML pages in the Masthead and Ad areas. You may also specify e-mail addresses for viewers to send comments or request transcripts.

These features give you a practical way to create additional advertising revenue and tap over 8% of the United States population with hearing difficulties.

Masthead Area

The maximum height of the Masthead HTML Area (shown as orange)is 120 pixels. When viewed with 800 x 600 resolution, Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) version 6 will display 770 by 120 on a full screen display.

Ad or Navigation Area

The maximum width of the Advertisement or navigation HTML Area (shown in dark green) is 200 pixels.

HTML Page Design Considerations

The Earize viewing client is a HTML frame with four panels: Masthead, Ad, Control Bar, and Streaming Text. The customer may design single page HTML documents for the Masthead and Ad panels. The other panels cannot be changed.

You may design pages larger than either the visible height or width limitations of the panel. A standard slider will permit the viewer to scroll an oversize page. Subtract 13 pixels from the viewing area for each slider.

The HTML in the Masthead or Ad areas may contain links or images. The Masthead can include client side scripts. This allows you to tie in and brand the viewing client. Because the sole task of the Earize server is to deliver streaming text to as many viewers as possible, referenced images or scripts must be hosted on a server elsewhere or be an integral part of each HTML page.

The total pixel height of the viewer frame is the height of the advertisement + 120 + 15.

Static Features

The horizontal blue control bar is 15 pixels high by 640 pixels wide. It and the size of the areas are fixed and unchangeable features of the Earize frame.

The Streamed text area defaults to the standard low fatigue black text on light gray background pioneered by Microsoft Word® and Corel WordPerfect.® However, the user is at liberty to change the background, font, font color, font size and scroll rate (reading rate) by clicking on Preferences on the blue control bar.

Customers may design pages larger than either the visible height or width limitations. A standard slider will permit the viewer to scroll an oversize page. Subtract 13 pixels from the viewing area for each slider.

Load Shedding

When your audience gets too big for one server to handle, the Earize™ system brings another server on-line. Earize then prevents any additional audience from joining the old server(s) and sends them to the new server. Earize does this load shedding by changing the appropriate Join Pages to direct new visitors to the new server.
