Advisory Board - 2005The CRI Advisory Board is designed to demonstrate our commitment to identifying and addressing the needs of deaf and hard of hearing.Advisory Board Members Mariana Ines BidartMs. Bidart , who is deaf, brings to the board her experience as an investigator and negotiator on client problems/complaints. Stephanie Y. Brown Ms. Brown, who is deaf, is an experienced peer counsel for persons with disabilities. She also has experience in using the TTY for the deaf and hard of hearing and has taught American Sign Language. Aubrey A. Harrigan Mr. Harrigan is a resident of the Virgin Islands. In 2001, Mr. Harrigan had a successful Cochlear implant surgery. He is a staunch advocate for the deaf and hard of hearing community. Gail V. Hughes Ms. Hughes has a certificate in American Sign Language and is a member of the Black Deaf Advocates, where she served as the chapter representative. Gwendolyn T. Powell Ms. Powell is hard of hearing and an activist for civil and disability rights. She also is a marketing, communications and education/training specialist in the Virgin Islands. Joyce Woodson Honorable Joyce Woodson is a long-time housing, education, and civil rights advocate. She became the first African-American woman elected to the Alexandria, Virginia City Council in its 250-year history. Winfred Wiencke Mr. Wiencke, Executive VP of Image Logic Corporation, has been working to improve captioning technology for the past 20 years. He designed and authored AutocaptionTM, the first desktop captioning system, which opened captioning to independent captioners and smaller companies.
